Senator Daniel Inouye is a Democrat from Hawaii who served in WWII during Pearl Harbor. Unsurprisingly, he says the ugly reality of war is in no way comparable to insurance plans covering birth control.
“I witnessed the attack on Pearl Harbor and had the privilege of serving in the United States Army during World War II,” Inouye said in a statement.
“It is complete nonsense to suggest that a matter discussed, debated, and approved by the Congress and the President is akin to a surprise attack that killed nearly 2,500 people and launched our nation into the second World War, or a terrorist attack that left nearly 3,000 dead and led to fighting and dying in Afghanistan and Iraq.”
Inouye added that Kelly should “share his comparison” with veterans from the two ongoing wars.

Undocumented American workers paid $11.2 billion in taxes in 2010 — putting money INTO systems like health care, Social Security, and education, not taking it out. Attacks on American immigrants have claimed the opposite. Ironically, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection annual budget is $3.5 billion — an amount covered by undocumented Americans three times over. Share this with someone who doesn’t see the value that new Americans bring to our communities every day through their work and through their paychecks.

I can’t tell you much more about the customers today, because of my limited contact with them. I work in the kitchen, so I don’t see much of the clientele. What made today so difficult—more difficult than always being behind on food, running out of one thing or another, needing to be in two places at once, etc—was the attitudes of the other employees.
No one really stopped talking about the reasons why today was as busy as it was. The people I work alongside kept going on and on about how powerful it was to be part of such a righteous movement, and how encouraged they were to know that there were so many people who agree with Dan Cathy. They went on at great length about how it was wrong not just for gays to marry, but to exist. One kid, age 19, said “I hope the gays go hungry.”
I nearly walked out then and there. That epitomizes the characteristics of these evangelical “Christians” who are so vocally opposed to equal rights. Attitudes like that are the opposite of Christ-like.

So, critics of Christianity get roasted by conservative media as bigots waging a war on religion. Conveniently, though, Christians who discriminate against gays are innocent and faultless, because they are merely following the words of the Bible.

I keep getting the people that scream “freedom of religion” or “free speech.”
Those people need to understand that until the cops come in and throw their CEO in jail, no one is violating his free speech.
